This park has a great children's playground, my kids have loved it since age 2 till now at age It covers all ages and is very clean.
The mountain top is amazing and provides a great view and nature based experience. My only complaint is they have the potential for more activities. I believe they had kayaking before, but I have yet to see it there. Markham Park provides a one stop shop for other activities but lacks the cool playground. Crystal L Douglasville, GA 19 contributions. Beautiful place Perfect for Birthday and runs. I have done runs here and recently was there for a baby shower.

If you want to know where all of the fit South Floridians are, it would be here. The first thing that strikes you when you enter the park is the giant hill built from a garbage dump. If you live in Florida any hill is a weird sight indeed. What was once landfill has been now transformed into a beautiful park. Running and biking all over the hill were people. Old, young, in shape, and those working on getting in shape. I drove to to the top to get a better look. Standing on top of a hill is a surreal experience in Florida.
At the top is a beautiful view of a canal and buildings including a church. After taking in the view I headed off to the right and the trail took me to a steep paved hill which people were sprinting up. I didn't have workout clothes on but I did have my sneakers and I couldn't resist trying it out. It took me two minutes to get up to the top and when I did I felt every muscle in my leg burning. I did it two more times and was able to fulfill the floors on my fit bit app, a goal I don't normally achieve because I just don't have stairs in my daily life.
I can see why everyone loves this place, it takes your work out to a whole new level. In addition to the runners there were other people who brought entire trailers full of workout equipment. I saw one guy dragging huge weights as he ran. I even saw people horseback riding. Also located at the top of the hill is a section for people flying model airplanes.
After I finished my run I went to explore the rest of the park. At the bottom of the hill and to the left is a boat launch area. If you go to the right there is a fishing dock, basketball courts, playgrounds for the kids, and a fitness loop at the very back with different stationary exercise stations set up along it. If I had more time and the proper clothes I would have really liked to explore that. I can see why everyone comes here. I can't think of any where else in South Florida that you can add a hill to your running workout.
The entry fee is also very reasonable. If I lived closer I would come here all the time. I wish they would do something similar to the garbage dump in Coconut Creek. July 25, Kira Martinez.
